London, England (PRunderground) August 21, 2008 - Thanks to the Credit Crunch and the poor weather that we have been having in the UK, surveys have shown that the British public have been booking holidays at the last minute. Fortunately for the travel sector the unpredictable weather in Britain has seen an increase in holiday bookings abroad.

Adrian Brook, Director for Media Planning and Buying for Conrad Advertising Agency believes that British holidaymakers are trying to enjoy their summer regardless of cost

“It appears that while travellers worldwide are tightening their holiday allowances, UK travellers seem determined to enjoy summer just as they have done in previous years. Britain’s holiday-makers seem less concerned than their counterparts from the rest of the world about high fuel surcharges and unfavourable exchange rates. British respondents to a recent survey from online travel community Trip Advisor say they will spend as much this year as last on their holidays, and an unfazed 25% say they will spend more.”

He later went on to say “More than half of British travellers say they will take the same amount of time off this year as last, although 25% are planning longer than usual holidays. Around one third will take a two to three week holiday, while one in ten will take between three and four weeks.

This is extremely encouraging news for the Travel industry as it suggests that the credit crunch is having less of an impact here than on other parts of the economy.”
