The New PRunderground is Up and Running
Two months ago PRunderground started as nothing more than another blog, aimed at helping people learn more about press releases and Internet marketing. It was something I did as a hobby when I had free time, which wasn’t often.
I was running subnixus.net, a service that offered press release creation with PRWeb distribution (sound familiar?) and it took up the majority of my time. PRunderground suffered, so I opened it up as a community blog, which allowed anyone to publish an article. That idea bombed. Over the course of an entire month only one person published an article.
Since the birth of subnixus.net I had always wanted to start a distribution company as well. The way I saw it, I was losing money every time I paid another service to put out a release for one of my clients. If I could do it myself, I wouldn’t have to rely on other services anymore… but creating a press release distribution company is no easy task.
So three weeks ago I made the decision to do it, but I needed a name. I spent a few hours researching open domains, but then it hit me! I had the perfect domain just sitting around dying a slow death; PRunderground.com!
So I’ve spent the past three weeks developing a proper distribution site and contacting news sites who might be interested in picking up our releases. It wasn’t easy, but after very little sleep and lots of work on the back-end, PRunderground is officially a true press release distributor.
After less than a week our releases are already appearing in Google News (something a lot of other distributors haven’t accomplished after months or years of trying). In addition to Google News, they are picked up by Topix, MSN, Technorati, etc…
So, for those of you that sent in e-mails asking why we made the change, I hope this clears it up for you.
