Ike Destroys The Gulf Coast, Evacuees Enjoy Quiet Time In Pigeon Forge.
Hurricane Ike Evacuees find shelter in Pigeon Forge, TN

Pigeon Forge, TN (PRunderground) September 13th, 2008 - Evacuees fleeing Hurricane Ike began arriving in Pigeon Forge on Friday just in time as Ike hammers the Texas coast.
The first people arrived at 6 p.m. on Friday and checked in to their Pigeon Forge Cabins they had reserved ahead of the storm. Over 200 people are expected to arrive in the East Tennessee area, over 100 will be staying in Pigeon Forge Alone.
Justin Brims, a evacuee from Beaumont, TX, said "We heard it was going to be real real bad, so we packed our bags, got online and booked a cabin before they were all taken, I had been planning a vacation for months for Florida, but with all these storms, we were Tennessee bound." Justin said.
Officials have said they expect power to be out in most of the Gulf Coast for at least a week, It looks like some people are trying to make the best of it here in Pigeon Forge. With the rod run going on this week, it really gives people something else to think about.
Laural Smith, a evacuee from Baytown, TX said "Me and my husband were pretty stressed over the storm, we are worried there will be nothing left to go home to. But it has been nice to see all these classic cars, and enjoy some quiet time in the smokey mountains. We were not able to find a room in Pigeon Forge, but we found a nice cabin in Gatlinburg.
