I AM, a science fiction novel, is the third book from Michael Selden, the award winning author of “The Boy Who Ran” I AM blurs the line between science and science fiction. 25-Million years ago, a dark object orbiting the sun at the edge of the Oort cloud begins its journey for a rendezvous with Earth, and with its own destiny.

Jenny studies physics and lives at home in the fictional college town of Long Lake, West Virginia. She and her boyfriend, Jake, have been together since they were freshmen in high school, and everyone assumes that they will get married when they graduate. When tragedy strikes, Jenny drops out of school to take an internship at the university’s observatory, located in the Appalachian Mountains. There, she discovers a comet, destined to end all life on Earth. “I AM” follows her struggle for a sense of normalcy, and lets us follow her journey of self discovery as she follows this odd comet on its path through the inner solar system. What she learns changes the way she looks at the universe.

Michael Selden worked as a physicist for almost 30 years and draws upon his experiences as a scientist to make this story realistic. In 2013 he moved to Woodland Park Colorado, a small town in the mountains to write fulltime. This is the third novel from Michael Selden. His first book, “The Boy Who Ran” was published in 2013 and won the Independent Publisher’s Book Awards Gold Medal for Juvenile Fiction, and his second book “The Balance”, a science fiction, dystopian novel, was published in 2015 received a 5-star rating from Forword Clarian Reviews.
