Walk in Clinic To Open Friday September 30 With Bells and Whistles

New Britain, CT (PRUnderground) September 26th, 2016

AFC Urgent Care is pleased to announce the opening of its 8th Connecticut urgent care center, in New Britain next week. AFC Urgent Care New Britain will be opening its doors to the public on Friday September 30 at 135 East Main St. in the former Taco Bell, across the street from the New Brite Plaza. Residents will now have a convenient location with ample parking and friendly and professional staff to take care of any medical needs. As with all of their locations, hours of operation will be 8am to 8pm Monday-Friday 8am to 5pm Saturdays and Sundays.

Formerly known as Doctors Express Urgent Care, the new state of the art walk in clinic, newly rebranded under the American Family Care umbrella, will include X-rays and on-site lab work, and patients will be treated under the care of Board Certified Doctors, Physician Assistants and APRNs.  The medical team, many of whom are bi-lingual in either Spanish and/or Polish, will be led by Medical Director Iftikhar Ali, MD.  All doctors are also USCIS Certified Civil Surgeons, and able to perform full immigration physicals, and are certified DOT specialists as well, enabling them to perform complete Department of Transportation physicals for local employers throughout New Britain, Newington, Farmington, Berlin, Plainville and Southington.

Owners Tom Kelly and Ron Krippner, who own 3 additional facilities throughout the state, will host a Grand Opening VIP reception and ribbon cutting ceremony at the New Britain Center on Thursday October 6th.  Mayor Erin Stewart, members of the New Britain Chamber of Commerce, and many local healthcare professionals and business leaders will enjoy an elegant reception with gourmet refreshments provided by New Britain’s own Angelo’s Market.

Mayor Erin E. Stewart: said “I am pleased to welcome another new business to New Britain: AFC Urgent Care. Their team of medical professionals will offer convenient care to residents 365 days a year and their presence will expand upon the variety of medical services that are offered in our community.”

Kelly and Krippner, who both grew up in the area, (Kelly lives and raises his family in Simsbury), admit to being self-proclaimed “data junkies,” and have made it a practice of using consumer research and patient feedback to consistently improve their model and ultimately patient experience. They have also demonstrated their vision for local economic growth, exercising “local focus” in every facet of their projects from hiring local contractors, vendors, consultants and medical professionals.

“We set out to create the type of environment where people loved to come to work.  We care deeply for our employees and we all treat each other like family.  This is reflected in the attitude of our staff and their interactions with patients.  Patients often comment that AFC Urgent Care is a happy place.  In both our Danbury and West Hartford  centers, 90% of our staff grew up in the area.  We plan on doing the same in New Britain,” said Kelly.  “Our entire staff embraces our mission to create the best health care experience that our patients have ever had.  We interviewed 150 candidates and hired eight.  Their inspiration comes from their deep desire to help people.  You will find them to be happy, friendly, warm and compassionate, with the most sophisticated clinical skills found anywhere in urgent care.”

“We are local guys investing our own money in a medical center to take care of folks in our community,” adds Krippner.  “Unlike many private equity investors entering the urgent care space, we are not interested in simply opening and quickly flipping an operation.  Rather, we are in it for the long haul – we want AFC Urgent Care to make a positive contribution to our communities and to the future of Connecticut’s healthcare landscape.”

The center will go beyond urgent care.  Community Engagement Director Kaushik Makati is often found “on the beat” engaging and partnering with local civic clubs,  contributing to community events, sponsoring teams and events with the local Y and other groups, as well as area companies.  The center has an active Facebook, Twitter and Instagram account to better reach the community with seasonal, urgent and relevant health alerts, issues, and reminders, and an active blog offering ongoing health education.  Whether you’re a parent of a child that needs stitches but can’t get in to see the pediatrician and don’t want to spend the time in the ER, a business owner whose employee gets injured on the job, or an individual in need of a an annual physical – AFC Urgent Care New Britain will truly be a full service walk in medical facility.
