American Homestay Network Widens Reach to the New York/New Jersey Region

Industry: Education

Standards-based homestay brings new options for international students on the East Coast.

Redmond, WA (PRUnderground) September 19th, 2014

American Homestay Network (AHN) has expanded to one of the most culturally diverse areas of the country, New York and New Jersey. New York City is home to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island, and it has a rich history of welcoming people from all over the world. This mix of cultures is great place to for international students to get to know America. When they touch down in New York or New Jersey, AHN supports their transitions to this vibrant new place with a safe cultural immersion — a home with a local family.

Homestay has long been an important housing option globally for visiting students and professionals, though America has lagged behind in accepting and mainstreaming homestay.  Guests seek it out as a way to get a more immersive experience of local language and culture.  Homestay provides a private and comfortable place to stay while the guest gets a chance to practice English skills, participate in traditions and day-to-day experiences. Hosts are compensated for providing a room and warm welcome to the guest and earn more if they opt to provide meals and/or transportation as well.

The NY/NJ region of AHN is being lead by two experienced and well respected entrepreneurs, Yosef and Rachel Schwarcz. Chaim Yosef Schwarcz is the founder of Hoshana Foundation, a non-profit Community Care and Education organization. Schwarcz’s long history of business accomplishments and community service culminated in the Founding of Hoshana. Rachel Schwarcz is an Israeli born businesswoman with entrepreneurial spirit. Rachel received her nursing degree and experience in Israel, then came to America and established and ran several businesses including RE investments, a private mortgage brokerage, a restaurant, and established a small chain of boutiques in Texas and Oklahoma.

In Schwarcz’s words, they now represent “the premier network in the USA which towers over the rest. Absolutely an amazing company.”
