Artspace Moves to Southwest, Creating Culture and Construction Jobs by Construction Reporter

Industry: Real Estate

New southwest Artspace projects include a $8.2 million project in Loveland, Colorado, a $13.5 million project in Mesa, Arizona, and $11 million El Paso ArtSpace Lofts.

Loveland, Colorado (PRUnderground) May 28th, 2015

Artspace Projects, Incorporated began transforming warehouses, factories, and historic buildings into mixed housing and studio space for artists in the late seventies in Minnesota.  They emerged to support a rich art culture in the community, which is known to boost the local economy, while ensuring artists could continue to afford to live in the community.

Since the organization’s inception it has built or renovated Artspace facilities across the east coast in Pennsylvania, Massachussetts,  Illinois, Connecticut, Maryland, and Florida.  Though some projects are built from the ground up, most are renovated historical buildings, or adaptive re-use.

Artspace has branched out to the west in recent years, renovating and building facilities in Nevada, Texas, Washington, and California.  In the past few years it has also branched out into the southwest, with a Mesa, Arizona project expected to begin late next year, an El Paso Artspace Lofts projects expected to be opened in 2016, and a Loveland, Colorado Artspace facility currently under construction.  The Loveland project will transform the Loveland Feed and Grain, a 120 year-old facility.

Artspace must be invited by community members to initiate a project.  Their projects boost the local arts culture, and as they are frequently located downtown, also boost the energy and economy of downtowns across the U.S.
