Alongside Maimed Victims of Deadly Foul Balls, Skopp Will Call on MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred to “Step Up to the Plate” and Extend Safety Netting at Every Ballpark, Including Spring Training and Minor League Stadiums

Brooklyn, NY (PRUnderground) December 8th, 2020

Coinciding with the virtual talks being held in lieu of the pandemic-canceled MLB Winter Meetings, baseball-fan safety-advocate Jordan Skopp, and victims of foul ball injuries, will hold a press conference on Wednesday, December 9th at 3 pm ET to unveil new research about stadium safety and demand Major League Baseball (MLB) make much-needed improvements before welcoming fans back to the stands for the 2021 baseball season.

Skopp will be joined by Erwin Goldbloom, the widower of Linda Goldbloom who was killed by a foul ball incident at Dodger Stadium in 2018, and other injury victims. Together, they will call on MLB management to ensure no fan is ever seriously hurt again by a foul ball at major league, minor league, and spring training facilities. Skopp will be calling out MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred in particular for lack of accountability for extended safety netting at the League’s 30 Stadiums, 23 Spring Training fields, and more than 100 Minor League ballparks.

“There was a perfect opportunity to make these safety improvements while the ballparks were shut down because of the pandemic,” claims Skopp. “Rob Manfred and his management team have not answered the distressing call, which means on opening day 2021, the foul ball maimings of innocent fans, many of them children, will continue. It’s time for all fans, and the media, to come together and demand the league do something to halt these senseless tragedies.”

Skopp, who is author of a new book on foul ball injuries and founder of the Foul Ball Safety Now website which hosts a public petition addressed to Rob Manfred, has been advocating that all professional ballparks extend their safety netting so that fans will be protected from dangerous foul balls which can seriously maim or kill innocent spectators.

At Wednesday’s press conference, he plans to announce new and startling research that shows how children are particularly at risk for injury, how dire the need for netting improvements is, and how the MLB has continued to “drop the ball” on fan safety, and failed to improve netting conditions where needed throughout the minor leagues. Skopp will be joined by Erwin Goldbloom who will explain how his life has been forever altered by the MLB’s lack of action and negligence.
