2020 Massive Climate Crisis Concert: LiveHOPE is the LiveAID of the 21st Century!

In 2020, the LiveHOPE Festival and the Indigenous peoples will be cohosting a massive climate crisis and environment emergency concert taking place simultaneously in different countries. The indigenous people protect 80% of the planet’s biodiversity and are the key to restoring the climate and the environment.

More than 2 years in the planning, the LiveHOPE Festival is immediately launching a series of global actions, leading up to four days massive global multi-city LiveAID styled event taking place from September 17 through 23, 2020. LiveHOPE is the LiveAID of the 21st Century.

The organizers of LiveHOPE are grassroots environmentalists, Indigenous peoples and social activists that emerged from the Standing Rock NODAPL global pipeline protest and the People’s Climate March. The people most disenfranchised and affected by poverty, the climate crisis, and environmental emergency are stepping up to organize LiveHOPE. Taking direct action to restore the climate and our environment. We cannot hope for our political leaders to take action on these emergencies; we have to do it ourselves.

The Indigenous Peoples worldwide are taking collective action to protect and to restore Mother Earth, including the forests, the freshwater, the wildlife, the oceans, the climate, and Indigenous peoples’ rights. 1,000 Indigenous Nations is expected to gather at Standing Rock for LiveHOPE to create their own Indigenous United Nations with an assembly building resembling the U.N. near NYC. Once fully formed, the Indigenous United Nations will represent 370 million Indigenous Peoples worldwide,  As an economic and political block, it will have a similar population as the Europen Union and the USA, but will be protecting 80% of the world’s biodiversity and forests. Indigenous peoples rights are the key to a livable planet.

The LiveHOPE organizers are the keepers of the Tree of Life blueprint (a Planetary Marshall Plan) for the future of humanity; LiveHOPE is the implementation of the blueprint to restore the climate and our environment, while simultaneously ending global poverty in our lifetime.

For the 35th anniversary of LiveAID, the LiveHOPE Festival is putting out an “Urgent Call to Action and Open Invitation” for the world’s most socially conscious artists, people and organizations to join hands with indigenous people to take direct action on this inter-linked climate, humanitarian, and environmental emergencies, with a focus on restoring the climate and the environment. We will also provide relief for the disasters caused by climate change including providing food and water to the 45 million people in the drought-stricken Horn of Africa (worst drought of the 21st century), protecting the Amazon jungle from fires and helping the 70,000 people devastated by hurricane Dorian in the Bahamas. This is an emergency and we need all hands on deck to put out the fire.

Harrison Ford, the famous actor, and a Conservation International Board Member said at the 2019 UN Global Climate Action Summit, “Because the destruction of nature accounts for more global emissions than all the cars and trucks in the world. As long as the land of tribal people / indigenous peoples is allowed to be encroached upon… our climate goals will remain out of reach.”

Come stand with the 1,000 Indigenous Nations gathering at Standing Rock, the African Union gathering in Ethiopia, and the island nations gathering in Puerto Rico for the LiveHOPE Festival to take direct action on these emergencies. The indigenous people, the Africans, and the island nations are the most impacted by the effects of climate change and the destruction of the environment. LiveHOPE includes globally televised concerts, conferences, sustainability awards, marches and happenings worldwide to celebrate the 35th Anniversary of LiveAID. LiveHOPE supports other independent events worldwide celebrating LiveAID and taking action on this existential crisis.

LiveAID was a historical superconcert that took place in 1985 (before the Internet & smartphones) with well-known artists and celebrities, like Queen, Paul McCartney, David Bowie, Mick Jagger, etc. LiveAID mobilized 2 billion people from around the world to take action on famine relief in Ethiopia and Africa.

Today humanity is facing multiple planetary crises of biblical proportions, from human-induced climate, humanitarian, and environmental emergencies – Famine in the horn of Africa with droughts affecting 45 million people in 14 countries, man-made wildfires are raging in the Amazon, Siberia, Africa, and Alaska. Hurricane Dorian has caused major damage to the Bahamas and North Carolina, USA.

The 2 billion people watching LiveHOPE will be enrolled in a new type of social network to take direct actions to restore the climate and to deal with the interconnected issues such as: the famine in the Horn of Africa, the 6th mass extinction, natural disasters, forest fires worldwide, deforestation, the decline in biodiversity, pollution, inequality, poverty, and the environmental destruction of Mother Earth, centered on fulfilling the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). One of the major initiatives planned is the “Plant 2 Trillion Trees Program” which can restore the climate, and reduce droughts, while simultaneously ending poverty worldwide.

We are facing the 6th Mass Extinction. About one million of the world’s animal and plant species are now at risk of extinction – the largest number in human history ever to be facing the threat of oblivion, scientists say. Many species could be wiped out within decades. And their plight is caused by humans, and will inevitably affect us too. “The health of ecosystems on which we and all other species depend on is deteriorating more rapidly than ever. We are eroding the very foundations of our economies, livelihoods, food security, health and quality of life worldwide,” said United Nations’ IPBES Chair, Sir Robert Watson.

The LiveHOPE Festival will be a spectacular four-day multi-city carbon-negative global extravaganza using the universal language of music to bring people together to create a paradigm shift in consciousness; we aim to change our present economic, social, cultural and political systems. LiveHOPE is a 21st-century LiveAID style concert with an integrated social media, smartphones, and a technological communications approach. We are currently planning to have the perfect locations for this super event, including, Standing Rock (North Dakota, USA), Addis Ababa (Ethiopia) & Puerto Rico (USA). Presently, the organizers are searching for European partners to coincide with COP26 in Glasgow, UK, and Asian partners. More cities and localized events may be added as the rollout progresses. We also anticipate cities that have declared emergencies will be hosting hundreds of smaller events worldwide.

The LiveHOPE Festival will take place just before COP26 (Conference of the Parties in Glasgow, United Kingdom), a Critical UN Climate Crisis Summit of 190 nations that made entry-level pledges to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions.

LiveHOPE was inspired by the indigenous youth at Standing Rock and the movement has been highlighted by 16-year-old Climate Activist Greta Thunberg, “I’m sure that the moment we start behaving as if we were in an emergency, we can avoid climate and ecological catastrophe. Humans are very adaptable: we can still fix this. But the opportunity to do so will not last for long. We must start today. We have no more excuses.” (Address to the UK Parliament on April 23, 2019) 

2020 is a very significant year that marks the anniversaries of many auspicious occasions and initiatives, like the 10-year remaining marker for the United Nations to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals by 2030. Each day during the course of LiveHOPE, we will have themes and honour that which has come before: (a) the 50th Anniversary of Earth Day, (b) the 35th Anniversary of LiveAID, (c) the 75th Anniversary of the Founding of the United Nations & (d) the International Day of Peace on Sept 21st, and 11 Days of Global Unity.
