The Law Offices of Dianne Sawaya is proud to announce the 2019 winner of the Denver Safe Driver Scholarship, Darinka Nunez Madrigal. At the Law Offices of Dianne Sawaya, we are proud to help the Denver, Colorado community in every way we can. To that end, we offer the Law Offices of Dianne Sawaya Denver Safe Driving Scholarship

Having been born and raised in the city of Denver, attorney Dianne Sawaya has a passion for helping those who live, work and play in Denver. Dianne has practiced law for more than three decades, devoting many of those years to helping accident victims obtain the assistance they need to heal and move on with their lives. Dianne Sawaya understands what accident victims are going through, and knows following a life-altering accident, compassion and assistance can help the healing process.

The Denver Safe Driver scholarship is awarded to a Colorado high school senior, college student or first-year law student from Colorado who is enrolled in a two-year to five-year institution. The competition is sponsored by The Law Offices of Dianne Sawaya for the purpose of helping to bring the possibility of a college education to a deserving individual.

The Denver Safe Driver Scholarship requires applicants to explain why they do not support or promote distracted driving, and to explain how they prevent distracted driving and promote safe driving practices for themselves and their friends or family.

Madrigal is attending the Metropolitan State University of Denver for Criminal Justice and her winning essay details an incident which took place in 2017 and according to Madrigal “the reason of my worst memory.”

In her essay, Madrigal recalls that just weeks after she began driving, she and her best friend made plans to go eat on a Sunday afternoon. When the friend failed to show up, Madrigal looked for him the next day at school, but failed to locate him. Friends began talking about a fatal car crash, and she feared the worse. Sadly, her best friend lost his life at a young age because another driver made the decision to text while driving.

Madrigal says after her friend’s fatal accident she really realized why her mother lectured her so often about the dangers of texting and driving, and that by texting and driving, she could potentially cause someone else the same pain the other driver caused her.

Two years have passed since Madrigal lost her dearest friend, yet she still thinks about the emotions she felt realizing she would never see him again. Madrigal notes there are many ways to prevent distracted driving, reminding others that lives matter and so does your own.

Madrigal is excited to receive the Denver Safe Driver Scholarship to further her education, and the Law Offices of Dianne Sawaya is proud to see the path she is on, both in education and personally. The firm looks forward to seeing the positive changes Madrigal will make in her life and is happy to help her receive an education, contribute to her community and change the world in the process.
