Commonwealth Computer Recycling Earns Two Major Industry Certifications

Pennsylvania electronics recycling and data destruction provider receives Responsible Recycling Certification, Recycling Industry Operating Standard

Greensburg, Pennsylvania (PRUnderground) September 2nd, 2014

Commonwealth Computer Recycling (CCR), one of Pennsylvania’s largest providers of electronics collection and recycling services, has earned two important industry certifications for its work.

The company has received the Responsible Recycling Certification (R2:2013) and the Recycling Industry Operating Standard (RIOS). These certifications indicate that CCR has met or exceeded state and federal requirements for environmental sustainability and the responsible and secure recycling and destruction of electronics.

“We are very proud to receive these two very important certifications, as they signify to our customers that they can rest easy knowing their sensitive data and information will be destroyed in a manner that meets any government standard,” said Serdar Bankaci, president of CCR. “With our company, you know that you’re working with a team that provides high-quality service recognized by the organizations and agencies that drive our industry.”

The R2:2013 certification is the most up-to-date electronics recycling standard as recognized by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. To qualify, businesses and organizations must meet strict standards in its processes for recycling data and equipment. The RIOS certification is also EPA-supported and is provided to companies that uphold the highest standards related to data destruction and protection, as well as environmental responsibility, health and safety and overall quality.

Commonwealth Computer Recycling serves residential, commercial and government agency clients across Delaware, Ohio, New Jersey, West Virginia and Pennsylvania, including the Philadelphia and Pittsburgh metropolitan areas. In addition to electronics recycling, the company offers MailNShred, a mail-order hard drive destruction service that helps businesses and organizations reduce their e-waste efficiently.

The company goes through an annual audit, as well as random inspections from the state Department of Environmental Protection and certifying bodies. CCR’s facility is completely secure and all employees undergo a full background check before handling any of its clients’ computers, electronics and data. The company specializes in both onsite and offsite data destruction for a wide range of materials, including hard drives, magnetic mediums, cell phones and other devices.
