Freedom House, a leading provider of safe housing and aftercare services to human-trafficking survivors in the San Francisco Bay Area, announced plans for a benefit recital by celebrated teen pianist John Baeg, a Cupertino resident who currently studies at The Juilliard School in New York. The performance is set for Saturday, August 26, at 2:00 p.m., at Bridges Community Church, located at 625 Magdalena Avenue in Los Altos.

A musician since age 3, John, now 15, was named Most Promising Young Talent, Best Bay Area Contestant, and first-prize winner at the 12th International Russian Music Piano Competition. He also won first prizes at the Menuhin-Dowling Piano Competition for Young Musicians and at the Music Teachers National Association Competition in San Francisco in 2011. After making his concerto debut with the El Camino Youth Symphony in 2012, John performed in Carnegie Hall as a gold-medal recipient in the American Association for Development of the Gifted and Talented Competition, and went on to make his solo debut recital in the Kumho Arts Prodigy Concert Series in Seoul, Korea.

As a winner of the Juilliard Concerto competition in 2015, John was invited to perform with the Juilliard Pre-College Symphony. Previously studying piano with Heidi Hau as a scholarship student at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, John now has the distinction of studying with Yoheved Kaplinsky, the chair of Juilliard’s piano department.

Tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for children under 12. A reception for the artist immediately follows the performance. Tickets may be purchased at the door before the concert. Advance tickets also are available online at www.FreedomHouseSF.org/Events.
