Genital Herpes Virus (HSV-2) Can Cause a Bladder Infection; CBCD Reviews the Medical Evidence

Industry: Health & Fitness

A bladder infection (cystitis) may cause painful urination. (1) The CBCD recommends two natural remedies against HSV-2.

“Are you infected with HSV? We recommend taking Novirin or Gene-Eden-VIR.” – Greg Bennett, CBCD

Inflammation of the bladder (also called cystitis by experts) and painful urination are common symptoms of a genital herpes outbreak (HSV-2), especially in women. “Vulvar or urethral lesions (herpes sores in the urethra) or inflammation may accompany genital herpes infection, and signs of cervical or labial infection are often also present.” (1) Dr. Sarah Jarvis wrote that “women are eight times more likely to have cystitis than men, as the tube that passes out urine from a woman’s bladder (the urethra) is shorter and opens nearer the back passage (anus).” (2) Dr. Jarvis is the resident doctor for the Jeremy Vine show on BBC Radio 2. Women with HSV-2 cystitis may experience “urgency (sudden need to urinate), frequency (need to urinate frequently), hesitancy, dyspareunia (painful sexual intercourse), or abnormal vaginal discharge.” (1)

The Center for the Biology of Chronic Disease (CBCD) therefore recommends that women with an HSV-2 infection take Novirin or Gene-Eden-VIR. The formula of these natural antiviral products was tested by Hanan Polansky and Edan Itzkovitz from the CBCD in two clinical studies that followed FDA guidelines. The studies showed that the Gene-Eden-VIR and Novirin formula is effective against HSV and other viruses. The clinical studies were published in the peer reviewed, medical journal Pharmacology & Pharmacy, the first, in a special edition on Advances in Antiviral Drugs. Study authors wrote that, “individuals infected with HSV…reported a safe decrease in their symptoms following treatment with Gene-Eden-VIR.” (3) The study authors also wrote that, “We observed a statistically significant decrease in the severity, duration, and frequency of symptoms.” (3) In addition, this natural antiviral was recently proven to reduce mental and physical fatigue in a post-marketing clinical study that followed FDA guidelines.

Both products can be ordered online on the Gene-Eden-VIR and Novirin websites.

Novirin and Gene-Eden-VIR are natural antiviral dietary supplements. Their formula contains five natural ingredients: Selenium, Camellia Sinesis Extract, Quercetin, Cinnamomum Extract, and Licorice Extract. The first ingredient is a trace element, and the other four are plant extracts. Each ingredient and its dose was chosen through a scientific approach. Scientists at polyDNA, the company that invented and patented the formula, scanned thousands of scientific and medical papers published in various medical and scientific journals, and identified the safest and most effective natural ingredients against latent viruses. To date, Novirin and Gene-Eden-VIR are the only natural antiviral products on the market with published clinical studies that support their claims.

In addition to HSV-2 cystitis, “The herpes simplex virus type 2 (HSV-2) may infect the urethra, making urination painful and emptying of the bladder difficult. Other viral UTIs, such as bladder and kidney infections, do not usually develop unless a person’s immune system is impaired.” (4)

The CDC notes that “Herpes is a common sexually transmitted disease (STD) that any sexually active person can get.” (5) Additionally, “most people with genital herpes infection do not know they have it.” (5) This means that if a bladder problem occurs, an individual may need to get tested for HSV.

Moreover, the HSV-2 virus can damage the nerves around the bladder and urethra.

Doctor Siamak T. Nabili, MD, MPH says that “An infection in the pelvic area, such as herpes, can interfere with nerves in the (bladder) area. Inflammation and swelling caused by infections can also compress the urethra.” (6) Dr. Nabili is a member of the American College Physicians and the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine.

In light of the above information, the CBCD recommends that women who have problems urinating get tested for HSV-2, and if infected take Novirin or Gene-Eden-VIR.

The Center for the Biology of Chronic Disease (https://www.cbcd.net) is a not-for-profit tax-exempt organization under section 501(c) 3 of the IRS tax code. The center’s mission is to advance the research on the biology of chronic disease and to accelerate the discovery of a cure for these diseases. The CBCD first published Dr. Hanan Polansky’s highly acclaimed “Purple” book, entitled “Microcompetition with Foreign DNA and the Origin of Chronic Disease” in 2003. In this book, he explains how foreign DNA fragments can cause many major diseases. The book has been read by more than 5,000 scientists around the world, and has been reviewed in more than 20 leading scientific journals. These statements have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration. This product is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease.
