International Amplify DEI Summit To Feature Over 60 Experts On Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Seeking To Revolutionize The Workplace

Industry: Business

Amsterdam, The Netherlands (PRUnderground) September 15th, 2020

The International Amplify DEI Summit taking place virtually between September 28-30, 2020 will feature 60+ experts on the topics of diversity, equity, and inclusion, seeking to raise awareness of diversity and inclusion challenges, and to revolutionize the workplace.

Summit Host and Organizer Vivian Acquah says, “I created Amplify DEI because I want to move the needle, so people don’t just talk about why diversity and inclusion is needed, but actually take action to make those changes happen.”

Amplify DEI is for corporate leaders, internal communications professionals, HR professionals, and employees who want to make a positive change happen. The Summit offers the opportunity to learn how a strong DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) mission is one of the most important pillars for business success and employee wellness.

Acquah says once companies understand diversity and inclusion issues, they can make the relevant changes. Those improvements can make those companies stand out as leaders and good places to work in their industries.

Topics to be covered by the 60+ guest speakers include what successful DEI is, why DEI is important, and why DEI needs to be part of the DNA of every company.

“When employers distinguish themselves as ones that are in tune with the challenges of diversity and demonstrate their commitment to doing something about it, they then cultivate a workforce that feels cared about, and is, in turn, more productive,” Acquah says.

Acquah, a workplace wellness advocate and host of the podcast, “Let’s Humanize The Workplace,” conceptualized Amplify DEI following the videotaped police killing of George Floyd in May. “I’m a mother to a 6-year old biracial son who asked me, ‘Do you think anybody would hurt you like that, Mom?’ which was devastating to me,” she says, “I knew I had to do something impactful, so by the time my son is an adult he can ask me what did I do about racial injustice and I’d be able to say I created the Amplify DEI Summit, which is important in the movement.”

“By the time my son enters the workforce,” she says, “I don’t want him to have to deal with what I’ve had to deal with throughout my life when it comes to racial inequity – at work and outside of work. I want him to live in a world where employees and employers are inspired, inspiring, and continually striving to create positive work environments for everyone.”

Acquah adds that she was also moved by Alexis Ohanian, the co-founder of Reddit, who resigned from the company’s board in June in an effort to push the platform to become more diverse. Reddit subsequently hired an African-American board member.
