300Magazine is pleased and excited to introduce Susana Aldanondo, a very talented NYC-based artist whose amazing abstract paintings are inspired by people and cities. Being an immigrant and the child of immigrants, Susana Aldanondo strives to create art that breaks down the barriers of language, labels, creed, and stereotypes dividing people and to encourage equal treatment, inclusion, and empathy. Her meaningful works have been exhibited at many prestigious art exhibitions and fairs in New York, Chicago, London, Zurich, Tokyo, and more.

Susana Aldanondo was born in Argentina but moved with her family to the United States when she was a child. Her love for art started at a young age, in a small NYC apartment that was filled with works by her talented father, an artist and muralist, who did commissions for local restaurants and venues. As a girl, Susana often accompanied her father, which left an inspirational mark on the young artist.

Susana Aldanondo studied Social Sciences & International Policy at Nord University, completed two Certificate Ecology Programs, took art history classes, earned a Translator & Interpreter certification from Hunter College, studied at The Art Students League of New York, and she continues to develop her skills and expand her knowledge of the arts. Her focus is on Conceptual Art and Abstract Expressionism. Through her work, Aldanondo expresses a deep connection to the immigrant identity, raising many important issues and, at the same time, highlighting hope and strengths in people and the world around us.

Susana Aldanondo’s works are inspired by nature, music, and cities. She is known in New York as the artist painting under the rain because it is Susana who can often be met in the middle of Times Square and on the Brooklyn Bridge, creating her beautiful abstract paintings right under the rain. NYC is her home, and she uses its vibrancy and diversity in her work. People and their differences are another source of inspiration for Susana Aldanondo. She also explores the idea of synchronicity and how life’s threads seem to lead people into meeting each other, facing new challenges, etc. This concept can be seen in Aldanondo’s “Melting Pot” (pictured), which represents a group of people, all diverse but all contributing with their own unique colors and beauty.

Paintings by Susana Aldanondo are vibrant, colorful, and energetic. They are full of hope and passion, movement and connection. They are about people and for people. The artist puts her heart and soul into her work, using art as a tool to appeal to audiences across all cultural boundaries and inviting them to look beyond those boundaries to enjoy the differences.
