MillionaireMatch: Does Religion Matter in the Search for a Soulmate?

Industry: Entertainment & Games

When it comes to millionaire dating, many people care about many things, religion is one of the thing. MillionaireMatch did a survey among their members

Los Angeles (PRUnderground) June 3rd, 2017

You’ve dated every single type of chick out there, you’re a decent dude, smart and not unfortunate looking. You meet this incredibly funny, gorgeous, super cool woman and she actually likes you back. You think – this is it! Jackpot! There’s a kicker though, she’s very Catholic and you’re an atheist. Uh oh. What are you going to do?

Religion has forever been a hot topic in the world. The kind of topic with the power to start wars, divide cultures, or create animosity between family and friends. Not to mention mixed religions can make for some really awkward family gatherings.

Most people like to think they’re open minded, and unprejudiced, but is that really true? And what about the world’s elite? What about the rich, the powerful, beautiful and envied? They’re faced with the same issues as the regular people aren’t they (maybe not)? So how does the upper crust of society view religion and dating?

Honestly, thank God (or Allah, Mother Gaia, Shiva, whatever deity you choose) for dating sites. We’re blessed to be living in a technological era where a smorgasbord of could-be-lovers are just a click away. The same is true for the rich. Only they get to be part of an even more unique club, at least they do with MillionaireMatch.

The site boasts of over three million members and is an excellent platform for meeting other members of high society. The exclusive group consists of the world’s most successful entrepreneurs, celebrities, models, CEOs, athletes and more. Once verified, members can feel comfortable looking for love amongst their peers. No catfishing there (OMG, jealous!).

Looking at MillionaireMatch’s database of verified hopeful paramours (both men and women) and their religious affiliations, gives us a better idea of how that unique demographic responds to the big, looming question in today’s world: Does religion matter?

First of all, does the elite dating world even identify as a specific religion? Turns out they do. 33.87% identified themselves as “Christians”, 23.73% are “Spiritual, but not Religious”, and the third largest group chose “Please Ask Me” at 10.4%. Okay, so it’s safe to say more than half of them care enough to specify it on their profiles.

Now this is all good and well, but doesn’t totally answer our question. Loads of people out there don’t mind sharing their religious affiliation with others. Some people identify as Catholic but only go to church on Christmas and Easter (gasp!). There are plenty of pork-eating Jewish people, and people with lax views in terms of religion. Maybe they’ve been brought up in a religious home but don’t necessarily practice themselves. What we really need to know is if people who identify as one religion, are willing to date outside their faith.

If we look at the match requirement for both men and women, a whopping 75.73% of users have no preference for their partner’s religion! A mere 3.26% of guys and 8.29% of ladies are looking for matches within the same religion. Tsk, tsk, what would our grandparents say about such religious indifference?!

So ladies and gentlemen, the results are in! Religion can be a deal-breaker in some relationships but most people (at least among the glitterati), don’t really care about their partner’s religion. It’s refreshing to see such tolerance, compromise, and kumbaya-ing on a potentially socially catastrophic subject. Perhaps love does conquer all?
