New York, NY (PRUnderground) November 27th, 2020

The award-winning Peoples Improv Theater (The PIT) has been diligent in growing its digital platform since the temporary closure of its NYC spaces due to COVID-19. Going on Month #9 without a physical location, The PIT continuously adds to its team of educators, collaborators, and creators by offering more online options than ever before. In addition to their celebrated improv, sketch, and stand up classes, The PIT provides a wide variety of additional courses that feature specified areas of study taught by pioneers of the entertainment industry.

Broadway artist Adrianna Mateo educates students on what it means to be a multifaceted artist in today’s world in her course, Triple Threat Artistry. Learning how to edit videos for comedic content, acting reels, and other projects is taught on a self-paced basis in this Digital Packet Class. Upholding best practices for running a successful group of improvisers with performers from all over the country can be learned through Start an Indie Improv Team. Additionally, with The PIT’s commitment to making comedy accessible to all, they offer revolving class discounts and multiple scholarship opportunities with applications currently open. Gift Vouchers are also available for people looking to share the gift of laughter with others.

Free monthly seminars continue for The PIT, including December’s Writing an SNL-Style Sketch Packet and Auditioning for an SNL-Type Show, both taught by PIT founder and Saturday Night Live alum, Ali Reza Farahnakian. With over 25 years of teaching experience, Farahnakian also offers personalized, one-on-one consultation and coaching options encompassing multiple facets of the arts such as writing, auditioning, voice over work, public speaking, and more.

Farahnakian also hosts PITtv’s brand new digital series, The Peoples News Show. In this crowdsourced news show, topical monologue jokes submitted by people from around the world are picked by Ali Reza Farahnakian and the show’s two Co-Head Writers, Bonnie Q Harris and Jared Waltzer, to be read out-loud by the show’s host with an accompanying shout-out, then added into a future episode of The Peoples News Show. The show’s first episode and more information about the submitting process can be found here: The Peoples News Show (Ep. 1).
