“The Silent Majority” Reveals The Kind Of Programs Teens Really Want To Help Them Stay Drug And Alcohol Free

Leslie Glass, CEO of Reach Out Recovery and winner of the 2016 American Society Of Addiciton Medicine (ASAM) Media Award for her first documentary, The Secret World Of Recovery, releases postive documentary about teens for parents and communities.

“Drugs and Alcohol are the #1 health issue for American teens, killing more young people than traffic accidents nationwide. But the good news is that prevention programs do work,” says Leslie Glass producer of The Silent Majority. “Reach Out Recovery Sponsored the documentary to highlight programs that empower teens to think for themselves. Teens want to be safe and help each other and parents want solutions. We hope that showing programs that work will lead the way to building more positive programing and support services that teens and young adults desperately need to help themselves,” adds Glass.

The Silent Majority debunks the myth that most teens are involved in the partying culture. This groundbreaking documentary tells the surprising truth that some 70% make healthy choices about drugs and alcohol. Five unique programs of positive reinforcement inspire teens to think for themselves. Drug Free Youth of North Port changes a community in Florida; Teen Court of Sarasota County keeps young offenders out of jail; Watch Your BAC teaches alcohol education at the University of Tampa; Road Recovery uses rock stars and music industry professionals to mentor a band of teens in recovery; and Made By Me, the making of a commercial by teens for the national media campaign Above the Influence from Partnership for Drug Free Kids. and The President’s Office Of Drug Control Policy. With music composed and performed by the Road Recovery band, “The Silent Majority” shows that adult guidance, mentorship, and empowering youth are the key to protecting them.

The Silent Majority was selected as the closing night film of the Gasparilla Film festival in and premiered on PBS station WEDU in 2013. American Public Television distributed the updated version of the documentary to PBS stations nationwide in 2014 and 2015.

Reach Out Recovery is committed to using all forms of media to break the cycle of silence and put prevention and recovery in the spotlight. “It’s difficult for families to get the kind of positive information and support they need.” says Glass.

The Silent Majority is available at  Amazon and is on sale at the reduced price of $10.99  for the month of October to help celebrate National Substance Abuse Prevention Month.
