Water Valley, MS (PRUnderground) June 26th, 2019

Mississippi based non-profit, Base Camp Coding Academy, which provides under-advantaged youth with fast-paced, focused vocational training in computer programming to support the technology needs of local and regional employers, announced today that CoreLogic and Renasant Bank have joined other corporate and philanthropic partners in Base Camp’s expanded mission as Summit Sponsors. Both CoreLogic and Renasant Bank are Founding Sponsors of Base Camp.

A significant component of the expanded mission of Base Camp Coding Academy is to create, with Northwest Mississippi Community College and other partners, Everest, which is Mississippi’s first Rural Education and Innovation Hub in Water Valley, Miss.

“The dual mission of Base Camp Coding Academy to provide alternative pathways to employment in technical fields for untapped sources of talent while helping fill the unmet needs of business for technical talent is a perfect fit with CoreLogic’s social responsibility goals and employment needs,” said CoreLogic President and CEO Frank Martell.

C. Mitchell Waycaster, Renasant President and CEO added, “We are pleased to expand our support for Base Camp Coding Academy as it successfully completes its three-year pilot and moves to expand its mission further through Everest, Mississippi’s first Rural Education and Innovation Hub, enabling growth in the student population, curriculum, facilities and mission.”

Both CoreLogic and Renasant Bank have also signed on as Sustaining Sponsors of Base Camp Coding Academy, helping to ensure ongoing, sustainable operating support for the Base Camp programs.

“We are grateful for CoreLogic’s and Renasant Bank’s continued support for Base Camp and our shared vision for the expanded mission of Everest,” said Base Camp Co-Founder and Trustee Glen Evans. “We are excited for the next chapter of Base Camp and thrilled that the partnership with CoreLogic and Renasant Bank will continue to grow.”

About Base Camp Coding Academy

Located in Water Valley, MS, the non-profit Base Camp Coding Academy (BCCA) is a hands-on, challenging and fun program, designed to train recent high school graduates to be software engineers. In a small classroom setting, students work with real world technologies to learn the fundamentals of coding, app development and the life leadership skills they will need to be successful in their career and competitive in the job market. The year-long program is free to students thanks to the support of Sustaining Sponsors including the MorganWhite Group, CoreLogic, Renasant Bank, CSpire, and FedEx and aims to help address the private sector’s historical shortage of high-tech skilled labor by training local youth to fill the positions. Every year, Mississippi has 1,200 unfilled computing jobs and less than 200 computer science graduates.

Everest, also located in Water Valley, Miss., is a partnership with Northwest Mississippi Community College, The City of Water Valley, Delta Regional Authority, and corporate and philanthropic sponsors to develop Mississippi’s first Rural Education and Innovation Hub providing tech and tech adjacent workforce training in this previously underserved region of Mississippi.
