SearchNRecruit Concerned About LinkedIn Ban in Russia

Industry: Business

Recruiting platform highlights disadvantages of Russia’s LinkedIn ban

SANTA CLARA, CALIFORNIA (PRUnderground) November 29th, 2016

According to SearchNRecruit, LinkedIn could be just the first of several social network platforms to be banned in Russia.

LinkedIn has proven to be a clear frontrunner as a professional networking platform, and it has helped professionals around the world. The recent elections in the U.S. have further shown that social networks have more power than money, and SearchNRecruit believes that LinkedIn is just the first social network to be banned in Russia.

SearchNRecruit is build on next-generation AI technology that aggregates personal and professional profiles around the world. The platform also offers AI-based recommendations for recruitment and engagement through multiple channels including e-mail, phone numbers, and social networks such as Twitter, Facebook, Google Plus, and LinkedIn. With the ban of LinkedIn in Russia, SearchNRecruit’s engagement functionality is partially affected for Russian users. Russian users of SearchNRecruit can no longer connect with recommended professionals through LinkedIn. They have to rely on connecting via e-mails and the remaining three social networks – Twitter, Facebook, and Google Plus.

Anand Karasi, founder of SearchNRecruit, said, “Our ability to serve existing SearchNRecruit users in Russia is slightly hampered as we lost one of the four social media channels that we normally recommend. On the other hand, we have seen an increase in registrations in Russia and are happy to be able to continue to serve an increasing number of professionals in Russia who are looking for other means to network with the world.”

Russia is a powerful, great nation with a vast number of highly qualified professionals. While the reasons for Russia to block LinkedIn can be argued and debated, restricting and limiting connections between the world and Russian professionals will ultimately stifle collaboration and innovation.

According to SearchNRecruit, “We wish LinkedIn the best and hope that their site is restored in Russia. In anticipation of a possible ban on Twitter, Facebook, and other social media networks in Russia and other countries, SearchNRecruit has started diverting R&D resources toward technologies to keep the world’s professionals connected for recruitment opportunities.”
