Sports Facilities Management Adds Six New Sports & Events Facilities; Projects $330 Million in Economic Impact In Next Five Years

Industry: Entertainment & Games

Clearwater, FL (PRUnderground) December 13th, 2018

As the development of youth travel sports destinations continues to grow, so too does the need for specialized operators to ensure the economic viability of these multi-million dollar community investments. Unlike the traditional parks and recreation approach to community engagement and focus on participation, these facilities require an advanced approach to business development, booking, and budget management to achieve their financial goals. The Clearwater, FL based outsourced management firm, Sports Facilities Management has been selected as the professional development partner and/or operator by several of the country’s most exciting new sports travel destinations.

To date this year, the Sports Facilities Management (SFM) has added six new sports tourism complexes, valued at more than $172 million collectively, to their management and development portfolio. In their first five years of operations, the combined estimated direct economic impact for these developments will be more than $330 million dollars in new spending from out of town visitors. It’s such spending that spurs economic growth in new hotels, restaurants, and shopping.

SFM CEO and Founder Jason Clement commented that a successful sports tourism destination is more than the physical sports complex. “An effective development getting to opening day on time, under budget and with the right amenities is the right first step. The thriving operations go beyond a ‘build it and they will come’ mentality. Developing the organization, marketing, sales, operating systems, managing risk and proper fiduciary planning are critical to the long-term sustainability of a flourishing operation.”

Established tourism destinations have identified sports as an important attraction to their market, and many have selected to outsource daily operations to management professionals, like SFM. Boasting “the world’s best beaches”, Panama City Beach has been a longtime favorite destination on the Florida panhandle. The county broke ground this summer on an outdoor 120-acre Sports Park. In Wisconsin, the Fox Cities Convention and Visitors Bureau began construction on one of the most anticipated new sports projects in the Midwest. The 164,000 square foot indoor ‘Champion Center’, expected to open in fall of 2019, includes two sheets of ice, 8 courts, and a restaurant.

These two venues and others listed below represent the newest additions to the SFM National Network:
Rocky Mount Event Center, Rocky Mount, NC
Horizons Edge Sports Campus, Harrisonburg, VA
Apex Sports & Events, Hillsborough, NJ
Cedar Point Sports Center, Sandusky, OH
