Student in Louisiana Wins Hoffoss Devall Louisiana Safe Driver Scholarship

As proud members of many Louisiana communities, the team of lawyers at Hoffoss Devall believe that everyone should have a chance to receive a college education. But that means more to the Hoffoss Devall team than it may seem.
They don’t only mean that they wish education was more affordable—they also want to bring an end to the careless deaths of so many that fall victim to distracted driving. That is why they created their own Louisiana Safe Driver Scholarship.
This scholarship goes to one graduating high school student in Louisiana who demonstrates a strong passion for spreading awareness about the dangers of distracted driving, making the roads more dependable and drivers more cautious.
Today, Hoffoss Devall is excited to announce the winner of the Hoffoss Devall Louisiana Safe Driver Scholarship: Madison Theriot!
“It means so much to me to win this scholarship. When I first heard about the scholarship, and what it stood for, I knew I had to apply. I’ve seen people that I am close to affected personally by distracted driving. Some have been in awful accidents because of distracted drivers, and others have been the cause.”
Madison’s passion for educating her community was immediately apparent in her video. She yearns for safe roads as she questions her own desire to risk driving the streets of Lake Charles:
“With the increasing numbers of distracted drivers, our roads are no longer safe… for anyone. To me, these facts are almost intimidating enough to completely stay off the roads. Why would I want to put myself in danger because others do not know how to practice safe driving? These drivers are putting other people’s lives at risk every time they turn on a vehicle.”
Hoffoss Devall is humbled to award this scholarship to such a devoted young woman. Madison plans to become a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner to help people of SWLA with their fight against mental illnesses. All of us at Hoffoss Devall wish Madison the best as she continues to pursue her goals in Nursing and Psychology at McNeese State University.
