Study: Repeated Anal HPV Infections Leads to HPV Persistence and Cancer; The CBCD Reviews the Study

Study: HPV reinfection may overwhelm the immune system, lead to anal HPV persistence, and cancer. The CBCD reviews the study, and recommends two natural HPV treatments.

Research shows that women have higher rates of anal HPV infections and anal cancer (1). Although many women acquire an anal HPV infection, the immune system most often clears the virus within 3 years. However, sometimes, the immune system fails to clear the virus.  According to Dr. Anna-Barbara Moscicki, MD: “persistence of anal HPV infections is associated with sexual behaviors, including anal intercourse and anal finger sex, and may suggest that the anus is being reinfected. It may be that, eventually, the immune system is overwhelmed and the infection is not cleared. Persistence is important since it is necessary for anal cancer to occur.” (2). In other words, a woman acquires an anal HPV infection, then, the immune system clears the infection.  If the women becomes infected again, the repeated infection may overwhelm the immune system and result in anal cancer.
The CBCD recommends that women infected with the HPV learn about Gene-Eden-VIR and Novirin. The formula of these natural antiviral products was tested by Hanan Polansky and Edan Itzkovitz from the CBCD in two clinical studies that followed FDA guidelines.  The studies showed that the Gene-Eden-VIR and Novirin formula safely decreased the duration, severity, and frequency of HPV symptoms. The clinical studies were published in the peer reviewed, medical journal Pharmacology & Pharmacy, the first, in a special edition on Advances in Antiviral Drugs.  Both products can be ordered online on the Gene-Eden-VIR and Novirin websites.
Gene-Eden-VIR and Novirin are natural antiviral dietary supplements. Their formula contains five natural ingredients: Selenium, Camellia Sinesis Extract, Quercetin, Cinnamomum Extract, and Licorice Extract. The first ingredient is a trace element, and the other four are plant extracts. Each ingredient and its dose was chosen through a scientific approach. Scientists at polyDNA, the company that invented and patented the formula, scanned thousands of scientific and medical papers published in various medical and scientific journals, and identified the safest and most effective natural ingredients against latent viruses. To date, Gene-Eden-VIR and Novirin are the only natural antiviral products on the market with published clinical studies that support their claims.
“In the US, females have a higher incidence (of anal HPV) than men. Recent estimates projected that 2250 men and 3980 women would be diagnosed with anal cancer in 2012. Alarmingly, the rate of invasive anal squamous cell carcinoma among females increased by 2.0% per year between the years 1973 and 2009 (1).” Study authors reported that there was a clearance rate of around 58% for anal HPV. This is similar to HPV clearance rates seen in the cervix. “Tobacco use, douching and anal sex were associated with slower clearance (1).” However, after they cleared the virus, many women became infected with anal HPV again. “We found that overall clearance rates were low, with only 56.5% showing no HR-HPV DNA (high risk HPV DNA) and 36.4% showing no HPV DNA (all types of HPV DNA) detection by year 3. This underscores the commonness of repeated detections of anal HPV over the course of the study (1).”
Researchers also found that women cleared the HPV16 strain, the one associated with anal cancer, at a much slower rate than other strains. “The slower rate noted for HPV16 in the anus is not surprising since HPV16 appears to be more important than the other HR-HPV types in anal cancers than in cervical cancers. Over 90% of anal cancers are associated with HPV16 compared to slightly over 50% of cervical cancers (1).”
According to the CDC: “HPV is passed on through genital contact, most often during vaginal and anal sex. HPV may also be passed on during oral sex and genital-to-genital contact. HPV can be passed on between straight and same-sex partners-even when the infected partner has no signs or symptoms. A person can have HPV even if years have passed since he or she had sexual contact with an infected person. Most infected persons do not realize they are infected or that they are passing the virus on to a sex partner. It is also possible to get more than one type of HPV.” (3). In addition, the CDC also notes that “HPV is often shared between partners and can lie dormant for many years (4).”

About CBCD

The Center for the Biology of Chronic Disease (https://www.cbcd.net) is a not-for-profit tax-exempt organization under section 501(c) 3 of the IRS tax code. The center’s mission is to advance the research on the biology of chronic disease and to accelerate the discovery of a cure for these diseases. The CBCD first published Dr. Hanan Polansky’s highly acclaimed “Purple” book, entitled “Microcompetition with Foreign DNA and the Origin of Chronic Disease” in 2003. In this book, he explains how foreign DNA fragments can cause many major diseases. The book has been read by more than 5,000 scientists around the world, and has been reviewed in more than 20 leading scientific journals. These statements have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration. This product is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease.
