This month, The Creative Circus celebrates twenty years of excellence in graduating the best-prepared, most avidly sought-after creatives in the marketing communications industry. For twenty years, The Creative Circus has been providing the advertising industry with the country’s top graduates – professionals committed to creating great advertising, design, copywriting, photography and interactive user experiences.

How did The Creative Circus get its start?
Twenty years ago, a group of advertising educators felt that they had a better way to train creative talent for the marketing industry. They put their heads together, and The Creative Circus was born.

According to Norm Grey, one of the school’s founders, the last twenty years have been a thrilling ride. “It’s almost guaranteed that every Creative Circus grad will say ‘I can’t believe how quickly the last two years flew by’! Well, in some strange time warp, I can’t believe that 10 times that number flew by even faster. How did that happen? Time certainly flies when you’re having fun,” says Grey.

Grey is grateful for all of the students and companies that have contributed to the massive success of The Creative Circus. According to Grey, “Friday, March 20th will be our 80th Graduation. Every year, approximately, 80 people graduate from The Circus. That’s 1,600 Circus Grads contributing their creativity and expertise to advertising and design and helping make the moving of products and services and building brands into an art form. We thank each and every person who ever attended and or graduated from The Circus as well as those who hire them for the success we’re all enjoying.

Dave Haan, the school’s Executive Director, offered his thoughts on the history and impact of the school.  “For me, twenty years is most reflected in the very large number of successful graduates that the Circus has put into the industry,” says Haan. “We see their work, we feel their influence in helping new grads succeed, and we hear from them regularly. Twenty years has generated a lot of positive impact on the industry and on the lives of a lot of good people.”

What’s next for the school?
The Creative Circus will continue to work directly with the advertising industry to determine the needs of the world’s top brands and offer up talented graduates prepared to hit the ground running in today’s competitive work environment. The school will persist in providing optimum training and career preparation in Art Direction, Copywriting, Design, Interactive Development and Photography by relying on the expertise, dedication, and goodwill of working professionals who teach at The Creative Circus and those who advise the school. And, through programs like Summer at the Circus – a partnership with University of Georgia – The Creative Circus is capable of delivering in-depth and specialized advertising education to more students than ever before.
