2017 Autonomy + Mobility Awards Announced
General Motors dominates the categories for its work in automobility
The winners of the second-annual Autonomy + Mobility Awards presented by Automotive Design & Production and AutoBeat Daily have been announced.
The 2017 award categories and the winners in those categories are:
Overall achievement: General Motors
Systems development: Bosch
Vehicle: Cadillac CT6
Technology: Velodyne Velarray
Mobility deployment: Maven
Aftermarket: Brandmotion
The winners are those that have advanced the states of autonomy and mobility for both the automotive transportation industry and the consumers who benefit from these advances.
The winners were selected by a jury consisting of John Waraniak, vice president, Vehicle Technology, SEMA; Brett Smith, assistant director, Manufacturing, Engineering & Technology Group, and co-director of the CAR Management Briefing Seminars, Center for Automotive Research; Steve Plumb, senior editor, AutoBeat Daily; Bill Hampton, editor-in-chief, AutoBeat Daily; and Gary S. Vasilash, editor-in-chief, Automotive Design & Production.
Vasilash said of the winners, “When we were making our decisions for the 2016 awards, things were more straightforward than they were for 2017. The nominees in each of the categories were all exceedingly strong. What’s more, the number of companies, products and services in this space has exploded during the past several months, which made making the decisions all the more difficult.”
Hampton added, “What was somewhat surprising when we counted the ballots was that for most of the categories the judges were consistent in their choices, which lead us to think that the winners are best-of-breed.”
