Nanthaveth & Associates, an Austin immigration law firm, attended the 32nd annual American Immigration Lawyers Association conference from November 7 to November 9 in San Diego to discuss a wide range of issues affecting immigrants and to provide new, innovative solutions to clients. The conference, which included panels on employment-based immigration, H-1B visas,  family immigration topics, asylum representation and several other issues. The conference also zeroed in on ways to help immigrants facing deportation due to prior convictions, ethical considerations and correcting government errors.

The American Immigration Lawyers Association, or AILA, is the only legal organization in the United States specifically for immigration lawyers. Although the organization has more than 15,000 members, only around 3,000 attended this year’s conference.

Each year, AILA holds this incredibly important conference to equip immigration attorneys with the most current, accurate information to help their clients through the often-complicated maze of U.S. immigration law. AILA also provides continuing support to its members, highlighting new case law and providing guidance on complex issues that many immigrants face.
