Economic growth and independence is agreed to be a shared positive goal of the black community. The problem has been sometimes finding a black-owned business can be a challenge for a black shopper, or someone seeking a service owned by fellow black people. The good news is this problem now has an easy-to-use, simple solution, in the mobile app Bburb. Bburb recently announced their launch offering a way for black buyers to be able to locate black businesses with straight from their smartphone or mobile device. The end result is a win-win for both parties and, ideally, increased prosperity in the greater black community.

“We consider ourselves a gateway to a digital village of proudly black-owned and operated businesses,” commented Temeshia Johnson founder of Bburb. “We saw a need that could be filled by the latest technology that could have a very real positive effect on many lives. And that’s exactly what Bburb is doing for the African-American businesses participating and for the African-American shopper. We couldn’t be more pleased about the initial response we have received.”

A big part of the experience of using Bburb is the expectation of excellence when it comes to the businesses and services being listed on the app. There is a much-repeated myth that somehow black businesses are inferior to those owned by people from other communities and Bburb aims at dispelling that misconception by only working with those who strive for excellence and delivering a superior experience. To help ensure this kind of quality-control shoppers can rate and review the businesses and services they use that were found on Bburb, helping to insure their “online village” strives to deliver only the best of the best.

As part of their launch Bburb is currently holding a contest to win tickets to “Becoming: An Intimate Conversation with Michelle Obama”, sure to be a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Bburb is available for both Android and iOS devices.

About Bburb

Bburb is a village that brings black buyers to black businesses. Why a village? We believe in the proverb that it takes a village. It takes a village to raise a strong community. It takes a village to have thriving businesses. A strong community is one with thriving businesses, service professionals and consumers to support the village. Black consumers are the largest group of consumers in the world, yet our businesses and service providers receive the least support.
