Care Overseas exists in the burgeoning Costa Rican dental tourism industry. In 2018, 40,000 dental patients traveled overseas to Costa Rica for invasive dental procedures. Many of those patients landed in the Central American nation for dental implants.

Care Overseas strives to help make the process of finding a dental procedure team in Costa Rica, flying and staying in the country, and returning home, as seamless and affordable as possible. The company does that by partnering with local, reputable, dental clinics like DDS Dental and Flikier Dental Institute. They also accomplish that by partnering with Costa Rican tourism companies.

Per Erich Johanning, Co-founder, the reason U.S. and Canadian citizens are flocking to Costa Rica is due to the high-costs of dental care in both North American nations. “In the U.S., especially,” Johanning said, “the cost has risen exorbitantly. A single dental implant can average $4,000 to $6,5000. Patients that need full mouth dental implants could pay up to $90,000 after add-on costs.”

While a single dental implant in the U.S. costs an average of $4,000, the average cost in Costa Rica is around $975 for a single implant.

Johanning also added that the dental insurance industry in the United States isn’t designed to pay for invasive dental procedures. “Most dental insurance is 100-80-50, meaning the insurance company will only pay for 50% of the most costly procedures. Not only that, but most dental insurance places a cap on how much they will pay out in a single year.”

On the Care Overseas website, dental patients can easily get a quote from the dental clinic of their choice for the dental procedure they need. Once they get a quote, they can work with care consultants like Johanning to plan their trip and stay.

Finally, Costa Rica provides perks beyond receiving a low-cost dental procedure from highly-trained individuals. The nation is one of the top tourist destinations in the world. “Care Overseas can help you not only save money on your dental implant procedure, or any dental procedure, but we can also help you have a great vacation while you’re here,” Johanning said.
