Core Health Technologies’ HL7 Interface Engine Comparison Survey Finds One Stands Above the Rest

Industry: Business

Over 200 healthcare IT professionals participated in this year’s HL7 interface engine comparison survey. The results present honest reviews and opinions on Corepoint, Cloverleaf, Ensemble, Rhapsody, and Mirth.

Core Health Technologies, a rapidly growing health information technology solutions company, has published a report comparing five of the most popular HL7 interface engines on the market (Corepoint, Cloverleaf, Ensemble, Rhapsody, and Mirth) across nine different categories, and discovered that one outperformed the others in almost every single aspect.

While the “winning” interface engine was tied for second-best Total Cost of Ownership—the champion there was programmer-favorite Mirth—it did score more than 90% in every other category, including Meeting Needs, Features & Usability, Additional Features, Implementation Setup, Stability & Scalability, Support & Services, and Vendor vs Partner.

The results of the 2018 HL7 Interface Engine Comparison and Ratings report were gathered by surveying over 200 healthcare IT professionals (68% of whom describe their current employer as a hospital or hospital system), many of whom provided very specific feedback on the different strengths and weaknesses of the interface engines. While everyone liked certain aspects of the interface engine they used, only one scored an A+ overall, with one healthcare professional saying it “fully met my top requirements that included excellent vendor support, ease of use configuration and management, and high availability operational workflow.”

“As interoperability evolves, we aim to keep our finger on the pulse of what’s happening, and our annual HL7 interface technology survey allows us to do just that. Clients have told us that being able to compare the top 5 or so engines, as well as all that they have to offer, has helped them immensely in selecting the particular engine that best suits their needs,” said Patrick Ayers, Delivery Manager, Core Health Technologies.

HL7 is the standard for the transfer of clinical and administrative data between healthcare providers’ software, and an HL7 interface engine is the way in which a user accesses and handles that information. The results of Core Health Technologies’ new report will make it easier than ever for companies to decide on which HL7 interface engine is right for them during their next implementation.
