Dr. Byeong Deog Park Recognized by Marquis Who’s Who for Excellence in Dermatological Research

Dr. Park is an innovator, inventor and entrepreneur whose expertise in product development has earned him worldwide recognition over the last three decades and founded NeoPharm Co, Ltd, Korea in 2000. In particular, NeoPharm has produced four product lines that incorporate skin barrier technology, the only one of its kind in the world, that mimics the barrier of natural skin and allows for skin protection from outside elements including allergens and dry conditions.  In the last five years, he has studied the skin-brain axis, the link between skin barrier and brain health and published peer review paper and been granted patents for further product development. Today, he excels as the chief science officer of Dr. Raymond Laboratories, Inc (www.dermartology.com) and Dr. Raymond Lab (Korea, www.raymondlab.com), a research and development company, focused on developing products in the skin care, food supplement and pharmaceutical industry on the basis of Skin-Brain Science.

Previously, Dr. Park came to prominence as a senior researcher at the Aekyung Central Research Center, post doctorate associate at the department of chemistry at Rutgers University and research fellow of the Industrial Research Foundation. Other noteworthy accomplishments in Dr. Park’s career include the publication of more than fifty articles covering his dermatological research and four books, including “An Atlas of Atopic Eczema and Atopic Dermatitis” and “Skin Type Solutions.” In recognition of his professional excellence, Dr. Park was the recipient of a superiority prize from New Tech Korea, a Korean Excellence award and a prestigious excellence award from KOTRA, the Korean Trade Investment Promotion Agency.

Before establishing himself professionally, Dr. Park prepared for his career by pursuing his education. He attended Seoul National University, where he achieved a Bachelor of Science in chemical technology in 1988, a Master of Science in organic synthesis and chemical technology in 1990 and a doctoral degree in organic synthesis and chemical technology in 1994. To stay at the top of his field, Dr. Park was a vice chairman of the Korean Society for Skin Barrier Research, where he is tremendously involved with numerous projects in his role as vice chairman. In addition, he has taken on research opportunities outside of his profession to increase his impact on his industry. Most notably, he has achieved more than 50 patents.
