Breakout actress Kathryn Aboya is “Mekhala”, the Goddess of Lightning in new feature film

Soul Heroine Entertainment today announced Kathryn Aboya as the lead actress in the role of Mekhala in its upcoming Drama/Sci-Fi/Thriller of the same name. Aboya is best known for “Downsizing” starring Matt Damon, which opened the 74th Venice Film Festival to critical acclaim and will descend upon TIFF for a Premiere Gala on September 11th. The actress has also been recognized internationally for her role as Samira in the award-winning web series “Petrol”.
Mekhala is the story of Kayla Abdul, a quick-witted, charismatic woman who has traded her inner power for career success. While confident in nature, she has always been tormented by the idea that something awful will eventually happen to her. Kayla must tap into her power as Mekhala in order to change the outcome of apocalyptic events that she is partly responsible for engineering.
“Kathryn Aboya’s electric and charismatic on-screen presence is a natural fit to portray the role of Mekhala the Goddess of Lightning” said Executive Producer Jaze Bordeaux.
The movie aims to empower and inspire an entire generation to embrace their personal powers from within. The project is currently in development.
