Experience Mallorca’s Sant Antoni Festival

If you have enjoyed a villa holiday on the island of Mallorca in the past, you will have experienced the island’s hospitality and atmosphere first hand at any of its festivals and holidays. Whichever time of the year you decide to escape to the wonderful Balearics, you will always find a festival or public holiday that brings both residents and visitors together, with plenty of song, dance and entertainment.

During January you will find the San Antoni festivities taking place between the 16th and 17th of the month. The festival is held in many towns and villages across Majorca, with the main and best attended celebrations being in Arta, Sant Joan and Sa Pobla. These towns and villages are not far from our villas in Pollensa, meaning you will not have to travel far to get a true taste of real Mallorca.

Sant Antoni is known as the patron saint of animals, and some of the daytime celebrations include the blessing of domestic animals in local churches. You can expect to see many great processions and parades throughout the island’s towns that hold celebrations; giant puppets’ being chased around the streets and roads by painted devils is a normal sight during the Sant Antoni festival!

In the evening, street parties are held with live music and entertainment on tap, plenty of singing and dancing is available for those wanting to soak up as much Mediterranean atmosphere as possible.
