Hardbacon appoints Aasha Jawaharlal as Chief Financial Officer

The appointment comes as Hardbacon closes its latest equity crowdfunding campaign on November 8.

Hardbacon, a personal finance application used by more than 40,000 Canadians, today announced the appointment of Aasha Jawaharlal as Chief Financial Officer.

Effective November 1, 2022, in this role, Aasha will oversee long-term financial strategy to help drive the next stage of growth for Hardbacon. In particular, she will be responsible for leading all financial and accounting functions across the company. In addition, she will be responsible for forecasting, planning, and establishing financing structures for future company growth.

The appointment comes as Hardbacon closes its latest equity crowdfunding campaign, spearheading its intention to go public in 2023. The Montreal-based fintech start-up raised more than $760,000, as part of an equity crowdfunding round on FrontFundr that will close on November 8. This round should bring Hardbacon’s total financing to more than $3.2 million since its founding.

Aasha brings half a decade of financial leadership to Hardbacon, having most recently served as the Finance Manager at payment solutions company, TOQIO, where she was responsible for financial accounting, planning, and analysis. Since 2020, she has also been an ACCA member in the UK.
