Loren Baker, founder of Search Engine Journal To Keynote at 2015 Rocks Digital Marketing Conference

The Rocks Digital Marketing Conference, formerly known as DFW Rocks Social Media, is a national conference held annually on June 29 & June 30 of each year. Lissa Duty, the organizer, originally created DFW Rocks Social Media in 2012 to celebrate and bring awareness to “Social Media Day” – a uniquely formulated holiday created by Mashable.com, the well-established technology giant.

At the end of the 2014 conference Lissa announced the merging of the DFW Rocks Social Media Conference with the Local Social, organized by Bernadette Coleman and so this year, the fourth year for this annual event, together, as co-organizers, Lissa and Bernadette are celebrating, not just social media, but digital marketing as a whole.

And what better way to celebrate then with Loren Baker as keynote speaker, known for many great things and one of those being founder of Search Engine Journal, the second most read search marketing publication online.

Loren will be presenting “ROCK with Google: Integrated Content, Search, Social and Local Strategies for Branding”.

He says, “SEO is no longer about one set of rankings. Identifying successes proves a challenge for digital marketers because each users’ search result varies based on device, browser, location, type of content available and much more. I will share proven methods that I use for my digital marketing clients in this keynote address.”

When I asked Lissa and Bernadette, co-founders of Rock Digital how they managed to persuade Loren Baker to keynote at the 2015 conference, Lissa quickly responded “I asked.” And then she continued to explain that, “As with my three prior conferences, my success in attracting high quality speakers is attributed to the fact I focus on giving online 5x more than receiving and it has paid off in huge dividends.” Bernadette added, “Loren Baker has been a long time friend and resource in the digital marketing industry, and as a contributor to Search Engine Journal for years. It is exciting to me that he is contributing this year to Rocks Digital.”

Loren founded Search Engine Journal in 2003 and subsequently established it as a leader in Internet marketing publications. SEJ was acquired by Alpha Brand Media in 2010 and currently SEJ employs a team of 10+. They recently launched a global conference series, SEJ Summit. Loren is also co-founder of Foundation Digital, a digital marketing strategy and development agency. He currently serves as VP of Business Development. Loren has been featured on CNN, NPR, BusinessWeek, ZDNet, PRWeek, TechCrunch, Mashable and AdAge. He speaks regularly at SMX, PubCon and many other conference series.

When I had the chance to sit down with Loren for virtual coffee, I asked him what he hopes to accomplish while in Texas at Rocks Digital. He responded, “Well, I love the DFW area and travel there at least twice a year to meet with clients and get my Whataburger and Taco Cabana fix, so I will be heading to one of those first thing when the plane lands.” He then added, “Besides speaking at Rocks Digital, I am looking forward to catching up with the other industry folks and mingling with the attendees. I look forward to learning how they developed the social voice of the companies they represent and also learning more about day-to-day local search from the other digital marketing speakers.”

As Lissa and Bernadette frequently say, “We ROCK Content, Search, Social and Local” and this year Addison, Texas will not know what hit them as 300+ digital marketers and business owners again converge on their city.
