LumaNova today announced that its LumaPod
“Independent verification matters because device specifications vary widely across the industry,” said Dr. Paul Barattiero, CEO and founder of LumaNova. “Power density, wavelength accuracy, and delivery consistency are foundational variables in photobiomodulation. Third-party testing gives spa owners and practitioners transparency and confidence in the systems they choose to offer.”
Testing was conducted by LightLab International Allentown (Report #LLIA002833-002) on December 16, 2025 . The evaluation measured spectral irradiance (300–1050nm) across multiple treatment positions on the bed surface and from the lid at a typical treatment distance.
Independent Testing Results Demonstrated:
- Average irradiance at bed surface (lid open): 44.37 mW/cm²
- Maximum measured surface irradiance: 48.53 mW/cm²
- Minimum measured surface irradiance: 40.70 mW/cm²
- Average irradiance from lid at 12 inches (lid closed): 69.80 mW/cm²
- Demonstrated stabilization and steady-state performance over a 20-minute operational period
Measurements were performed using a calibrated Gigahertz-Optik BTS2048-VL-TEC Spectral Irradiance Meter under standard operating conditions.
For spa and wellness operators, irradiance levels and uniformity directly impact session consistency and service quality. Independent laboratory measurement provides objective performance data that helps differentiate professional-grade systems from lower-output alternatives commonly found in the expanding at-home and consumer light therapy market.
The LightLab report measured irradiance across 15 locations at the bed surface to assess energy distribution, as well as five measurements along the centerline from the lid at 12 inches above the surface. All channels were tested at full output in steady-state (non-pulsed) operation .
As red and near-infrared light therapy continues to gain popularity in professional spa environments, objective validation of device specifications is becoming an increasingly important consideration for operators seeking to deliver consistent, high-quality wellness services.
“In a crowded market, clarity matters,” added Barattiero. “Independent validation helps separate clinically relevant systems from marketing claims. Our responsibility is to ensure practitioners have access to performance data they can trust.”
