New Testament Outreach International Ministries (NOIM) hosts the Mental Health Conference

New Testament Outreach International Ministries (NOIM), a non-profit organization, founded by Bishop Ben and Pastor Eva Phagan in 2009, seeks to make a difference in the lives of people at a “grass-roots” level by providing empowering information and tools about mental illness. Untreated mental illness is a major issue in our society. According to the National Institute of Mental Health, in 2014 “there were an estimated 43.6 million adults aged 18 or older in the U.S. identified as having a mental illness,” this number represents 18.1% of all U.S. adults. NOIM will be conducting a one of a kind Mental Health Conference focused on “Bridging the Gap” with mental health patients, communities and faith organizations. The objective of the event is to destroy barriers of communication surrounding the topic of mental illness through education about prevention, intervention, crisis and rehabilitation methods for those with mental illnesses, their families, communities and faith organizations.

The conference is set to take place on March 18th, 2016 from 9 am to 3 pm at United Way of Greater Houston, located at 50 Waugh Drive Houston, TX 77007. The conference will focus on how attendees can help those with mental illness and re-entry into the community. There will be 5 workshops consisting of the following mental health experts; Honorable Harris County Judge Maria Jackson, Honorable Harris County Judge David Mendoza, Board Certified Psychiatrist Dr. Carlin Barnes,  Practice Manager of the MHMRA New Start Program Dr. Ee’a Jones, Houston Parole Division Chaplain Christina Thomas, (NAMI) National Alliance Mental Illness Houston Program Director Angelina Hudson, Hogg Foundation for Mental Health Program Officer Vickie Coffee-Fletcher, Houston Mental Health Crisis Intervention Response Team (CIRT)  Officer Joseph Ramirez, Houston Police Department Homelessness Division Officer Steve Wicks, Pastors Dr. Carl Brown, PhD and Braque Wilson.

These influential professionals have come together under one roof to make a difference in the community. Don’t miss the opportunity to get involved with such a powerful conference. Due to limited seating early registration is suggested. To purchase tickets, please visit www.thenoim.org. For more information about the conference, vendor opportunities, or corporate sponsorship call NOIM at 713-731-4737 or email the organization at pastorphagan@yahoo.com.
