Emery lives in the small town of Murkville, home to a few thousand survivors of The Bane. A treacherous time for humanity, The Bane was when a portal opened from a strange world and an intelligent race of creatures called Tekkas came through, nearly decimating the entire population of humans. Unknown to the survivors of this invasion, the reason for their survival was solely because of the Dream Walkers.
Dream Walkers are humans who have the ability to travel to a different world through their dreams. It so happens this world is the same one the Tekkas came from; Wyrta. The Dream Walkers stole a key component from the portal, the Activator, and ended the Earth War, closing the portal. Years later, when the Tekkas recruit the help of a powerful wizard, earth is once again in the crosshairs of the lizard-like Tekkas.
Emery knows nothing of the Dream Walkers, only that he has vivid dreams of falling, jerking awake seconds before he hits the ground. His meager possessions include a necklace given to him by his late parents with strict instructions to ask himself ‘am I awake or am I dreaming?’ every time he felt it, and a note, left by an unknown person with the initials CLV, explaining his parent’s death.
When CLV reveals himself to be a Dream Walker and informs Emery he is one too, Emery falls further and further from the reality of earth as he enters the dream world. Once there, Emery learns many things that CLV was too guarded to reveal, including the cause of his parent’s death. The Tekkas. With the help of the mysterious CLV, a lythari elf with little regard for humanity, and a doctor only too eager for a fight, Emery must stop the Tekkas from rebuilding the portal between Wyrta and earth. Perhaps a little vengeance on the way, if there’s time.
