Dr. Raymond Park, inventor of Maltese Formula, K-Beauty’s leading skincare brand dedicated to developing and marketing innovative, affordable clinic-level skincare at home, has developed a new patented Endocannabinoid-related compound called NEUROMIDE, for use as a skincare ingredient.

With the growing body of research on the positive effects of Endocannabinoids on human health, Dr. Park saw an opportunity to make strides in skincare, having already developed a bio-identical Maltese skin barrier formula that helps to strengthen the skin barrier in people with Sensitive skin issues. “With the research on Endocannabinoids and their effects on human skin health, my team and I are able to build on the connections science has made between the human microbiome effectors, skin health and the endocannabinoid receptors that act as messengers and receptors to that system,” explained Dr. Park.

“While much more research is needed to understand the specific relationship of these receptors to the skin, skin scientists have begun to distinguish a relationship between two specific endocannabinoid receptors, GPR55 and GPR119, which appear to mediate the potential effects of our human microbiome on inflammation and immune function,” Dr. Park went on to explain. This discovery led Dr. Park and his team on the path to develop NEUROMIDE which help the Endocannabinois skin homeostatsis that regulate and balance our skin’s health.

NEUROMIDE has been developed as what is called an endocannabinomimetic, a compound that mimics microbiome effector, which is the metabolite of human microbiome, for the skin-healing effects of the body’s own Endocannbinoid System without any possible side effects on the mind.

Pilot Clinical trials of NEUROMIDE have shown positive and promising results as a skincare ingredient. Preliminary clinical studies on NEUROMIDE on healthy volunteer showed a reduction in moisture loss through their skin as well as significant increases in hydration immediately following one application. These results suggest that NEUROMIDE can be used for improving skin barrier function, bringing relief to inflammation and itching.

NEUROMIDE has been garnering a great deal of attention and has been written about in CosmeticDesign Asia. The original publication is in the top 25 percent of research outputs scored by Altometric even though it was published just one month ago.  NEUROMIDE is patented in Korea and is currently under applicaton PCT  for a worldwide patent. Hopefully in the near future, NEUROMIDE will be available for cosmeceutical skincare.
