Sage Realities Announces Chop Wood Daily Mindfulness Game

Industry: Digital Media

Mobile game gives players a daily dose of Zen to help them relax!

TORONTO, ONTARIO (PRUnderground) November 30th, 2016

Sage Immersive Realities Inc. announces the upcoming release of their unique mobile application, Chop Wood Daily Mindfulness Game.

Inspired by a Zen proverb, Chop Wood is a minimalist wood-splitting activity that promotes simplicity, harmony, and relaxation. Set in a tranquil Japanese-style landscape, with ever-changing seasonal conditions, and a captivating original soundtrack, Chop Wood aspires to bring players “peace through play.”

While most meditation apps guide participants, Chop Wood locates the player within a visual poem where there is a simple, repetitive task, a rhythmic engagement, a peaceful context, uplifting music, and a satisfying action.

“Chop Wood is an experientially-based mindfulness practice that harnesses the power of gaming to engage rather than instruct,” said Ken Hudson, Founder of Sage Realities, and the game’s designer. “Our aim is to give the player some breathing space in their day and engage them in a thoughtful practice that lets them check in rather than zone out.”

The game features dynamic weather, that changes based on the player’s location, and is set in a beautiful seasonal landscape inspired by Japanese Ukiyo-e prints. The original soundtrack, composed by renowned Koto artist, Michio Yagi, also changes based on current local conditions.

Chop Wood is designed to promote balance by limiting the amount of gameplay to a daily quota. “Chop Wood seeks to enhance your life, not take it over,” said Hudson. “Our goal is to create a satisfying yet calming mobile gaming experience: A Tamagotchi for the Soul.”

Chop Wood Daily Mindfulness will be released on December 9, 2016, for both iOS and Android. More information can be found at
