Soaring Kite Books Announces First Title, ‘Dear Mama’s Loving Arms’

Soaring Kite Books is excited to announce the upcoming debut of their first title, ‘Dear Mama’s Loving Arms’. The new book is slated for pre-sale launch starting today, Wednesday, September 16, 2020, at 10AM EST.

Soaring Kite Books was founded in April 2020 as a children’s book publisher on a mission to emphasize diversity. Their books are being designed to represent BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color) characters. 2019 children’s publishing statistics show that only 27% of children’s books include characters of diverse racial or ethnic backgrounds, underscoring the need for diversity in children’s books.

Ceece Kelley, principal author at Soaring Kite Books, wanted to share books with her son including contemporary releases with characters like him, and when she discovered the startling lack of such on the market, she decided to launch her publishing firm.

Now, the company has announced their first title.

‘Dear Mama’s Loving Arms’ tells a beautiful story about the power of a mother’s love from the perspective of a child. The main character, Baby, learns to cope with daily naps – and separation from Dear Mama – by joining Dear Mama in safari-themed dreams inspired by Baby’s toy giraffe, Raffie.

On Wednesday, September 16, 2020, the Kickstarter pre-sale campaign begins, giving people everywhere the opportunity to support Soaring Kite Books in their first book launch. Through this campaign, supporters will have exclusive access to limited edition book bundles and early supporter rewards, such as the custom “Raffie” giraffe plush (pictured).
