Don Johnston Incorporated released the first episode in their free SpED Talks education series. SpED Talks features short videos designed to deliver insight on current issues facing special education leaders. Each episode is introduced and narrated by Dr. Christy Chambers, Council for Exceptional Children (CEC) Past President and veteran special educator.
SpED Talks address key issues facing special education directors and educators. Topics will cover new education standards, alternate assessment, curriculum, and accommodations. Each SpED Talks episode is less than 10 minutes long and is easy to share with special education staff and administration.
SpED Talk, How Changes in the New Alternate Assessment Affect Curriculum and Instruction, is now available for viewing. This episode addresses the new Common Core State Standards and how they will impact students with complex instructional needs. It takes the perspective of a special educator, skeptical of Common Core.
