Type I diabetes, also known as juvenile diabetes, typically strikes in childhood and requires lifelong treatment including insulin injections. When someone has type I diabetes, their entire lifestyle must be positioned around the conditions of their health. JDRF is a non-profit organization that aims to advance the research being done on type I diabetes and is the world’s largest non-profit funding of type I diabetes research. In addition, JDRF hopes to raise awareness for this form of diabetes with a variety of initiatives such as the JDRF One Walk.
