The “Me Time” Movement: Newly Launched Hair Care Brand, Striking + Strong, Shows Its Commitment To Culture-Shifting Activities With Its Inaugural “Self-Care Weekend” Campaign

Industry: Beauty

The weekend-long social media campaign is the brand’s first purpose-aligned activation, encouraging women in diverse communities to collectively carve out time for active care for their minds, bodies, and hair.

Dallas, TX (PRUnderground) October 20th, 2022

Newly launched hair care brand, Striking + Strong, is making immediate good on its “mission to change the narrative that energetic, empowered women of color have to choose between working out, and maintaining healthy looking hair” with an aptly titled, Self-Care Weekend, taking place from Friday, October 21 – Sunday October 23, 2022.

Though a weekend dedicated to self-care might seem like all manicures and massages at first glance, this campaign is connected to a much deeper meaning. “Self-care really captures a lot of what Striking + Strong is about and highlights the more meaningful reason that we exist,” says Founder Tanja Collins. “Yes, on its face, we’re a brand that sells hair care products. But our greater purpose is to celebrate and support a diverse community of wellness-minded women as they navigate varying stages in their health and fitness journeys. Our goal is to encourage more women to live more active lifestyles, while finding time for true, replenishing, revitalizing self-care activities AND maintaining healthy-looking hair while doing it all. We don’t believe in the “either (working out) /or (having healthy-looking hair)” proposition women with naturally textured hair have been presented with for such a long time. And if we can increase representation in the wellness space through the use of our hair care products, then we will have done our job.”

On Day 1 of Self-Care Weekend, followers are encouraged to engage in an active fitness activity like running or biking, either on their own or with a group, with the goal of increasing the heart rate and working up a healthy sweat! Kia Williams, 2022 IDEA Fitness Instructor of the Year, author, fitness program specialist and host of the IDEA Health & Fitness Association web series “Paths to Success” and the “Fit and Fierce on the Mic” podcast, will be contributing her experience to the weekend’s kick-off activities. On Day 2, participants are asked to remember what brings them joy and to relax into calming activities like reading books or indulging in the aforementioned activities like manicures, pedicures, and massages. Day 3 is Wash Day, an end-of-weekend ritual many women use as a way to cleanse their hair and prepare it for the week ahead. Participants can showcase their engagement by tagging the brand and using #iamstrikingandstrong + #selfcareweekend2022.

At the conclusion of the campaign, twenty (20) lucky winners will be granted exclusive access to experience the Striking + Strong Winter 2022/2023 product release, prior to it becoming available to the general public. The brand currently sells three primary products: Step it Up Shampoo, Mighty Micellar Shampoo and Cool Down Conditioner. Their proprietary formulas are free from parabens, harsh sulfates, DEA, artificial dyes, silicones, or phthalates; while including clean, nature-based ingredients like rosemary, aloe, sunflower oil, jojoba oil, hops, and quinoa.
