Tiny Transitions’ Newest Sleep Coach Specializes in Autism, Special Needs

Tiny Transitions’ Slumber Squad offers in-person and online coaching to help babies and children sleep better. With studies showing that up to 80% of autistic kids have trouble sleeping, Tiny Transitions is now uniquely positioned to address these sleep needs thanks to their newest coach, Raline Sexton. Raline draws on her experiences with her autistic son and her specialized sleep certification to help autistic kids get the sleep they need.

Raline, a former Wall Street professional, felt her life being turned upside down when her first baby refused to sleep. “I thought being on the trading desk was stressful, but nothing compared to how difficult it was when my daughter came into the picture,” said Raline.

Raline knew her situation was common but found few resources to help. Later, she confronted sleeplessness again after the arrival of her third child, a son with autism. Studies have shown that up to 80 of autistic kids ages 2 to 5 have sleep issues, including taking longer to fall asleep and experiencing lower quality sleep (Pediatrics, Feb. 2019). These sleep deficiencies are linked with an increase in repetitive behaviors, greater difficulty making friends, declining school performance, anxiety, and depression.

Anxious to help her son and others, Raline studied to become a certified pediatric sleep coach and worked closely with a leading regional sleep consultant specializing in autism. She is now bringing her unique training to Tiny Transitions’ sleep coaching team, known as the Slumber Squad. Through gentle, customized coaching, she helps kids with autism and other special needs overcome sleeplessness before it triggers or exacerbates physical, emotional, or cognitive problems.

Raline will be joining a team of eight Tiny Transitions sleep consultants. The team offers services in English, Spanish, and Arabic. Their specialties include sleep help for twins, premature children, and those with developmental delays. They have helped thousands of families worldwide stop the bedtime wars and establish healthy sleeping patterns.

Courtney Zentz, the company’s founder, is a frequent contributor to national media on the issue of sleep. She has been featured by NBC, Parentology, Yahoo, Thrive Global, and Romper and been named as a Top U.S. Sleep Consultant by Tuck.
