Upswing Offers Colleges Free Webinar on Increasing Online Student Engagement

Three in four students are unhappy with their college’s e-learning quality during COVID-19 and disappointed that the expectations they had weren’t met. To help colleges better support their students, Upswing, an online student engagement organization, is offering college administrators a free webinar, “How to Retain Newly Online Students During a Pandemic.”

The webinar will help institutions boost online engagement and better support online courses, services, and communications for their online students.

Session 1: Wednesday, May 27, 2020, 12:30 pm – 1:30 pm CST

Session 2: Thursday, June 4, 2020, 12:30 pm – 1:30 pm CST

Join Upswing co-founder and CEO Melvin Hines and Online Student Engagement Expert Marissa Rodriguez as they share best practices for online engagement.

During the webinar, Hines and Rodriguez will discuss the unexpected challenges students faced when their colleges were forced to deliver all services online. They will leverage Upswing engagement data to offer three solutions for supporting newly online students.

“During times of anxiety and uncertainty, students need more than an electronic connection. They need to connect emotionally with academic supports such as advisors and tutors,” says Hines.

Upswing will share a customizable Online Engagement Rubric to help administrators audit their institution’s needs for the upcoming semester.

Upswing has spoken to thousands of students who have been completely overwhelmed by the immediate transition to online over the past few months. They can draw from their seven years of experience partnering with colleges and universities across the country to support online, nontraditional, and first-generation learners by addressing their most critical needs remotely.

“This was an unexpectedly challenging semester, and now everyone is looking to the fall,” says Hines. “Addressing the new challenges highlights the need for virtual student support systems that mirror on-campus support systems and is a wake-up call for colleges and universities to boost virtual academic resources to support the ideals of educational access and opportunity for all.”

Register for Upswing’s “How to Retain Newly Online Students During a Pandemic” on Wednesday, May, 27 or Thursday, June 4.
