“Beautiful Monsters” An Enchanting New Book About Sherlock Holmes’s Mentor

Beautiful Monsters, the fourth novel by the writing team of Brian Anthony and Bill Walker, is a wonderfully bizarre tale based on a three-hundred-year-old German legend.

The narrative is told by none other than Sherlock Holmes, who plays a large part in the whimsical story.

The story as written takes place in Victorian London and revolves around a college professor who spends forty years attempting to track down and destroy every last copy of a book he has written–which he believes carries a terrible curse.

“Legend is the key word,” says Beautiful Monsters co-author Brian Anthony. “In the early 1700s a German college professor wrote a scientific tome, which was based on fake fossils planted by his enemies to taint his research. From this actual occurrence a number of wild myths evolved, and based on some of these Bill Walker and I weaved our tale.”

The “Beautiful Monsters” referenced are a cross-evolution of humans and insects, a species wiped off the face of the earth during an ice age over 400 million years ago!

Beautiful Monsters is beautifully illustrated throughout by the award-winning artist Rick Geary, known for his work in MAD, National Lampoon, and Rolling Stone Magazine, as well as a highly-acclaimed series of graphic novels.

Advance word on Beautiful Monsters has been enthusiastic:

This is an actual work of imagination. Rather different from those supposed fantasies, which are actually just constructions. A charming book, reminiscent of James Branch Cabell.

Beautiful Monsters will be available as an e-book on December 1, 2019.  A limited number of deluxe, cloth-bound editions can be ordered directly from the publisher, Walker/Anthony Publications.
