Dr. Larry Kawa, President of Kawa Orthodontics, and 1US.com, a veterans employment portal, announced today that they will begin hosting “Armed with Opportunity” Veterans Job Fairs to connect well-qualified veterans with top-quality companies.
Initially the job fairs are planned to be in the South Florida area with plans for future expansion.
“We believe that one of the best ways to reach veterans in the community is through live events,” said Dr. Kawa who is the founder of 1US.com. “Job fairs bring out those who are putting in the effort to find opportunity, the very people we want to help.”
Hosting veterans job fairs is not new to Dr. Kawa. Dr. Kawa has hosted several well-attended job fairs with Career Showcase Florida, and the Welcome Home Group.
At these job fairs, veterans were able to hear presentations from employers regarding their specific job descriptions and requirements in group setting, receive resume training and job coaching, as well as have one-on-one meetings with individual employers.
“With these job fairs, we want to create an experience that not only connects veteran job seekers with employers, but that also enriches and fine-tunes the marketability of each individual applicant. Giving each applicant the tools from 1US.com including the video resume and profile, will only help veteran applicants stand out even more.”
Previously, large employers from many different industries have participated in Dr. Kawa’s previous job fairs including: AFLAC, Norwegian Cruise Line, New York Life, DHL, National Guard, The GEO Group, G4S,Federal Air Marshall Service, Primerica, Florida Highway Patrol, and the US Department of Homeland Security.
“Veterans are some of the smartest, most qualified, hardest working people that I know,” stated Dr. Kawa. “At my own orthodontics practice, I’ve hired veterans for years and my business has thrived because of those talented people. I believe that every business in the United States of America would benefit from hiring a veteran.”
