JP-UK’s Epson Ink Cartridge Care Tips

When using Epson Printer Cartridges occasionally streaky or faint ink can appear on printed documents. Here is our solution to the problem.

From time to time, when using Epson Ink Cartridges the output can be faint or even streaky, when you know there is still more ink in the cartridge. In most cases this can be attributed to a clogged print head. Over time, the print head can become clogged as ink accumulates on the print head and then dries. This process then blocks the tiny nozzles on the cartridge through which the ink runs onto the paper.

The result is that the ink cannot travel to the paper as it becomes clogged in the sludge accumulated on the print head. Cleaning can be achieved quickly and easily, take a piece of paper towel and wet it slightly. However be careful not to make the paper towel too wet as it will then be unable to soak up the accumulated ink. Also be sure to use distilled or purified water, as tap water contains a number of minerals which can further contribute to the clogged printer head.

Then run the paper towel over the print head, being careful not to exert too much pressure, wipe in the direction of the length of the print head. Once cleaned the print head should appear clean and shiny. If the print head still looks dirty repeat the process as required.
