Mexpro® Mexico Insurance Insurance Pros Provide Peace of Mind to Cross-Border Medical Travelers
Full Medical Evacuation Now Bundled into Mexico Car Insurance Coverage

As rising healthcare costs force millions of Americans to cross the Mexico Border for care, patients traveling by auto are often not aware of new regulations requiring Mexican auto insurance coverage. As of January 2019, all U.S. and Canadian vehicles entering Mexico must have auto liability insurance from a Mexican insurer, as a U.S. policy will not be accepted by Mexican authorities.
Mexpro, founded in 1999, provides auto liability and full coverage insurance for drivers crossing the border into Mexico. Affordable short-term plans fit the needs of most medical and dental travelers. Of particular interest to medical tourists is Mexpro’s medical evacuation (MedEvac) offering, which is included in the price of Mexpro’s MexVisit® daily plan. In the unlikely event of an emergency while on the road in Mexico, travelers are insured up to $500,000 to return to the hospital of their choice (dependent companions included). Vehicle returns, including RV’s, are also included in the MedEvac coverage.
“We know of no other agency providing the services that Mexpro and MexVisit® offer to the medical travel community,” says Denny Lauritsen, Assistant VP of Mexpro’s parent company, International Insurance Group, Inc.
According to Patients Beyond Borders, an online and eBook resource for medical travelers, some 300,000 American medical and dental patients cross the Mexico border by car every year seeking care. “Patients seeking additional peace of mind would do well to comply with the mandatory auto insurance requirement,” says Patients Beyond Borders CEO Josef Woodman. “On the road in Mexico, a stress-free patient is a happier patient.”
