Mike E James Revisits His Past to Revive Single “Take Me Whole” for Pride Month

Written from an honest place, Mike E James’ lyrics in his hit song “Take Me Whole” continue to passionately speak to his younger audience about the problems that arise with attachment. With the rise of drag queen culture, Mike asks fans not to limit their entertainment to reality TV. He addresses the consensus that there’s an overwhelming loss of community with a fresh perspective that invites anyone who doesn’t fit the gay status quo to accept themselves.

Mike has garnered attention worldwide and achieved success across different platforms in his decades-long career. His soulful, edgy sound has captivated fans at numerous pride events, festivals, and nightclubs. As the first openly gay singer-songwriter in his teens, Mike received criticism and threats, but he chose to rise above and show younger LGBTQ+ audiences that there’s variety in gay culture and entertainment. His appearance on a televised taping of Good Morning America’s “80s themed” episode and the Oasis Magazine cover show others that they can confidently embrace their true identity. With numerous accolades like the International Bear Horizon Music Award for his album Finding, Mike’s bravery and personal stories allow space for others to express themselves authentically.

Mike worked with guitarist/vocalist Jeremy Blue to revitalize “Take Me Whole”. The release amplifies the original recording with modern instrumentation and a narrative-driven music video by director Marc Hamill (MTV UK) that centers on a flamboyant man who’s upset that his love interest doesn’t fully accept him. By examining the social archetype that the closeted, masculine man represents, Mike invites a deeper conversation on monogamy and sex-focused relationships.

Mike E James will release the folk-pop single with the accompanying music video on all major streaming platforms worldwide on May 28, 2022. The singer-songwriter will be hosting a live event at the Majestic Saloon (Northampton, MA) at 8pm on the 28th to celebrate the release and his birthday.
